Re: Help with bird call
So - this bird has been bothering me. I found this on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1SyluTQfHk The nearest thing to the call/song we heard is at 41:49 but with the first syllables only - we didn't hear any 'rattle' at the end Is it in any way possible a ring ouzel could have been in Wor...

Re: Help with bird call
No Gary - definitely not nuthatch - slower call, always 3 each time, much much louder, flutey/thrush quality. Female Tawny Owl
We were treated to quite a concert last night by a female tawny owl. Very loud Kewicking just outside the bedroom window woke us at about 2 am. This was followed by the female form of the Hoot which I have never heard before - rather hoarse, a bit wobbly and quiet. She had taken up position on an ar...

Farrington Lodges
Kingfisher carrying food this evening. Surely any young would be self sufficient by now?? It definitely had a fish in its beak and was heading low and fast over the water, obviously on an urgent mission

Hi Nora we also have a nest, but its in the air brick for our extractor fan in the downstairs loo. Can't see what species of bee but the sounds they make are amazing, and they seem to be busy at all times of the day and night. There are a variety of smells to experience too and are a tad competitive...

A magpie has just taken one of 'my' young starlings. :( I was alerted by a massive kerfuffle in the garden as the adults tried to chase off the magpie. It dropped the youngster at first but it was already dead and then it came back and flew off with it. At least the magpie young will get their tea. ...
