Croston Moss 17/7. 9 Large White, 3 Small White,4 Peacock, 1 Gatekeeper, 8 Red Admiral, 6 Small Tortoiseshell, 1 Painted Lady, 3 Meadow Brown and 1 Green-veined White.
Also Yellowhammer, Whitethroat,Linnet.
Surprisingly not one Odonata seen.

Dead Goldcrest

A juvenile found dead under my Lounge window 13/7. No idea if it had been locally bred as i have not seen any Goldcrest in the area since Winter.

Dipper on Yarrow at Pincock
1 Linnet and 2 Buzzard around field between Chapel Brook and Dawbers Lane.

Garden---occasional visits from juv Nuthatch and GS Woodpecker. In April a Wood Pigeon built a very flimsy nest in hawthorn. after sitting for a couple of weeks the nest totally collapsed. forgot to mention Hobby on Croston Moss 5/6 1 Blue tailed Damselfly on pond at Millenium Green. c30Canada Geese low over the house early evening 9/6, Occasionally see 1or 2 but never 30. i am not aware of anywhere locally that holds these sort of numbers. Hedge Cutting

A month ago on a regular walk down Mill Lane, Euxton the farmer was hedge trimming. Last night he was at it again on the same hedge which is now considerably reduced. Disgraceful at this time of year when the hedge of hawthorn and beech will have nesting birds.
