SkyLark were showing well this morning, about 50 lapwing were on the fields south of the reserve also a good flock of fieldfares.

Coppull hares.

Have had two sightings this week,monday at chisnall colliery,and this morning
at hic-bibi an adult with a juvenile.

Had a pair appear today searching the oaks for the very few accorns,jays not
unusual for the garden but the first for a while.

Linnets

Had a pair of linnets in the garden yesterday and today,new tick for the
garden.Bullfinches still regular just waiting for young to come,young goldfinches today and a trio of newly fledged great tits.

Saw what appeared to be a squirrel carrying a young one up a tree in its
mouth.On the path just past the feeding station.Not seen that before!Lots of
nuthatch about.

Coppull moor hares

Either myself or the wife take the dog out daily on the fields either side of
preston rd.We both have noticed the lack of hares,not seen one for a long
tjme.its a shame but they seem to have gone.

Busy garden.coppull moor.

Getting lots of really colourfull visiters at the moment,two pairs of bullfinch,lots of goldfinches,plenty greenfinches and siskin,also had a male pheasant strutting his stuff yesterday.Costing a packet keeping this lot going.Just wish i had the kit to take some decent pics.Counted nine blackbirds t...

Had a trip to the beach just south of Southport today,the weather was wild to say the least we struggled out to the distant sea,it really was hard work in the wind.Once there the numbers of birds using the waters edge was amazing,as far as we could could see both north and south the beach was black ...

A walk around this morning we noticed just how busy the birds were,all the usual suspects,of note was a group of bullfinchs perhaps 4 or 5 just past the feeding station.Further along the path towards the weir a kingfisher was using the stream behind the carved horse where all the frogs spawned last ...

just some observations from an area that used to be a major industrial site not many years ago.barn owls,hunting foxes,good numbers of roe deer,brown hares,buzzards,grasshopper warblers,kestrels,plus all the usual bits and pices,thats, just taking the the dog for a walk in a morning.Its amazing what...
