I didnt know brook lamprey migrated, where do they go? Dont they stay in fresh water all their life? The stream is on private land, but I'm interested in them to so maybe you could come along with me if I get chance to go again and have a look. Will give you a shout if I get chance in next few week.

you say the fox was 'also' shot, are you surgesting the owl was? quite a serious incident if it was and in no way similar to fox control and quite unfair to local gamekeepers to surgest any link.

They will be paired up by now, they use a deep sand earth on farm next door, be careful if you put a dog in dangerous round there with that deep sand.

You could ask the owner,Is the cat left out at night. The cat breeders all say cats should NOT be let out at night for their safety. Foxes could have them, cars could run them over, and as my father-in-law used to say. " Never buy a rabbit out of its skin - it might be a cat" They do look...

no iv always struggled to find woodcock nests. Thinking of trying to lay down some cover for them, maybe plant some willows then cut and lay it to allow brambles to grow through, used to improve fox coverts like that and they would hold well . If anyone has any timberdoodle encouraging tips or ideas...
