Golden plovers.

Possible flock of golden plover on the ground next to the leyland bypass ( farrington moss ) at dinner time toaday no sign of any birds on the way back at 4.00pm ish .

E shaped ponds , just 1 snipe ,4 moorhen , kestrel . River douglas , 50+ teal , plenty of mallard , 1 shelduck , 3 goosander , 1 redshank , 100+ pinkfoot , 1 merlin , 200+ stock dove ( record count for me ) , several skylark , 1kestrel , 8 whooper swan . A flock of around 10 small finches passed along the brook at first light probable siskin but could have been redpoll , 2 bullfinch , several canada geese passed over .
Canada goose brings the chorley list up to 73 species .

Good to see a willow tit in the area jed ,ive never seen one in the area before but its the perfect habitat , there is 2 more public footpaths to the area ( one at the top of the hill and one from the stocks lane end ( heskin ) .

Tawny owls .

Spotted both of the local tawnys this evening , one flew down to the syd brook and the other was seen on a roof top , just heard one along the syd brook .

Woodcock sighting.

Great sighting of single woodock near to spring wood this evening heading towards the syd brook also 2 snipe , and heard 2 tawny owl .

Glad you spotted a few Neville , i never get bored of seeing these amazing birds , there definately in my all time top ten list , i think plenty of the birds are probably coming from the chisnell area and flying over the M6 heading down the valley , maybe worth a viewing from that area as well :wink...

Quiet this morning , usual tit flock , redwings mixed in with starlings , highlight was flushing a woodcock .

Same sightings as len , 3 new ticks , coot , common gull and gc grebe brings the list up to 67 species .
