Woodcock sightings .

Spotted 2 single birds flying down the syd brook this evening ( 16.55 , 1705 ) , one of the birds gave great views near to woodhart bridge it circled the brook twice as if it was going to land but it then carried down the brook straight over my head :D .

Around 70 fieldfare heading west over the syd brook and around 50 herring gulls feeding on fields along back lane .

Barn owl seen on the mawdesley / hilldale boundry first thing this morning and flushed 3 snipe on a damp field near to the syd brook at dusk .

A brief view of 2 probable woodcock flying down the brook , heard 2 male tawny owls , and a small flock of redwing .

No sign of the huge crossbill flock but managed a flock of around 10 birds and another flock of 5 ( on my way back to my car ) Neil has the fulllist of birds seen .
Crossbill brings my chorley year list 135 species .

Morning walk with windy conditions , 5 bullfinch feeding in a silver birch tree ( 3m , 2f ) , 1 goldcrest , coal tit , great tit , small flocks of redwing , possible small flock of crossbill and thought i heard a flight call but not 100% sure , flushed a woodcock out of bracken on the woodland edge ...

Eccleston syd brook dusk .

3 tawny owls ( 1 perched in a dead tree , 2 males having a hoot off ! ) 1 woodcock shot through at 5.20pm , heard several redwing and a song thrush , and a buzzard was calling in near darkness , heard mallard .

Checked the set aside fields out , several pheasant , reed buntings yellowhammers and linnets , 2 snipe , 2 buzzard , 1 kestrel , 1 female stonechat , 3 teal on a drainage ditch , smallnumbers of lapwing , 1 heron .

Eyes lane .

No sign of the ringtail this morning although peregrine , merlin and kestrel was seen also 5 snipe , reed buntings , 5 tree sparrow , 1 yellowhammer , 30 corn bunting , lots of skylark , starlings and corvids , 1 heron , 1 cormorant , 1 goosander , fieldfares and a few redwing , lapwings .
