Mervyn,

I suspect this may be an Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus), which can be very variable in colour and can be seen at most times of year.

Birds seen/heard - Coot, Moorhen, Mute Swan, Mallard, BH Gull, 1 Goosander (f), 29 Tufted Duck, 3 Little Grebe (one feeding in the overflow channel where the Kingfisher feeds. 2 Common Buzzard just out of the park along the road to the garden centre. Belmont & Anglezarke Reservoirs

Belmont Reservoir - 68 Mallard, 8 Lapwing on the pontoons, 5 Greylag Geese in the field on the west side. 1 Blue Tit, Pheasant heard.

Anglezarke Reservoir, north end - 29 Mallard, 4 Pheasant & 1 Feral Goose.

Thanks Neville & Peter, it was a lifer for me. I saw a female Smew a few years ago at Worthington Reservoir though at the time it was disputed if it was an escapee from a wildfowl collection. I then saw a male at Lunt Meadows in April 2016, which a great bird. Smew if my favourite Duck. 25910426713_...
