Re: Astley Park Buzzard

Having had to view a long distance phone/camera shot it would appear that the bird is not a Buzzard but an Osprey.

Willow Tit

Great to see one in the garden again at lunchtime.
I'd seen it next door but came into mine today so that's a good tick for the garden birdwatch.

Hedgehog

Fully grown hedgehog caught in neighbour's rat trap this morning.
Released safely unhurt - it did get some chocolate as a reward although I'm not sure if chocolate is good for hedgehogs.

Re: Here and There

Tortoiseshell(5), Peacock (2), Red Admiral(3) & Small White (3) present in garden on Tuesday. Neighbour told me he saw a fox on my drive at 8pm last Friday having a "face off" with one of the local cats - he didn't say which backed down.

Re: Tree Sparrows

I've been seeing up to four tree sparrows in the garden all winter and they have bred locally as two adult birds were in the garden the other day with two youngsters.

Re: Terrapin from last year.

Thanks Peter. It's probably the same beast as I am led to believe that Bridge 67 is in the Cowling area.
