Re: BioBlitz weekend 27/28 April 2019

As my garden overlooks Great Wood in Astley Park and I often see more species of birds on the feeders in my garden than people see just walking through the wood especially on a wet and windy day I recorded what I saw for the part of the bioblitz period 10 am to 12 pm before I had to go out.I can add...

Yarrow Valley Euxton

I had the pleasure of Phil Kirk's company for my stroll along by the River Yarrow in Euxton this morning mainly to look for lichens but disappointingly poor for lichens other than pollution tolerant species. As I hadn't done the walk recently, I had forgotten just how lovely this stretch of the Yarr...

Re: Astley Park Great Wood

Thanks Neil for agreeing to accompany me in Great Wood today. I no longer feel fit enough to go walking on my own in the countryside but I wanted to look at lichens as part of my contribution to the Bioblitz as not available on 27th. Looked at lichens growing on the trees by the top path in Great Wo...

Returning House Sparrow

I last recorded House Sparrow in my garden before 2000. A few days ago I thought I heard one chirping but I was chatting to a neighbour at the time so couldn't look for it. This afternoon whilst gardening I heard chirping again and eventually saw a male House Sparrow.
